Building A Better Garden

If you have a garden or plan to build a garden, then you might feel worried about its aesthetic appeal. After all, you don't want your garden to look too bland, too ugly, or too cliched, right? Here are some tips that might help you get started on the perfect garden decor, specifically regarding different types of statues and structures that might be of use to you:

A commonly overlooked element which can immediately make your garden stand out is the statue. A statue can lend itself to the decor in a variety of ways, adding color diversity, adding an auditory element, or creating a central unifying theme.

For instance, a statue with a fountain will add a zen and peaceful feeling through the sound of trickling water. Statues shaped like frolicking critters can create a carefree atmosphere, while a sturdy, solid statue can create a sensation of strength.

You may struggle deciding where to where to place the statue. In cases as these, try positions that make the statue visible to the viewer from as many angles as possible. This is easy with smaller gardens, but you'll need to be more strategic if your garden is significantly larger or consists of many tall elements.

You can also greatly enhance the aesthetic appeal of your garden by adding structures such as trellises, arbors, and even gazebos. If your garden is up against a wall or fence, then a trellis is a good option, since it benefits from a supporting structure to lean against. A wooden trellis can add a very natural element, especially if it is covered in vines that naturally weave through it. A metal trellis is useful because it is sturdy enough to be a freestanding structure and is unlikely to fall over.

If you have a decent amount of room and want to make use of a curved aesthetic, an arbor is an excellent choice. Like trellises, arbors are excellent for vines and other weaving plants. They also function very nicely as segments of a walkway, either as a terminal of the path or an entrance to the garden.

Finally, a gazebo can be an attractive option if you have a very large garden, especially if it is placed in the middle of the garden. It allows occupants to observe the beauty of the entire garden while simultaneously creating a focal point of the garden and giving shade.
